Not only is he a triple-threat on the hardwood, but he is a triple-threat in the classroom as well. Andre Murillo proved that by becoming the Eagles' first ever CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District men's basketball player.
The award honors collegiate student-athletes across all levels who serve as a starter or prominent reserve on their team and maintain a cumulative grade point average above 3.30.
Murillo is the prominent starter on 51蹤獲's basketball squad, leading the team with 16.5 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per contest, and he is also well above the 3.30 GPA threshold.
He is a standout on and off the court as he balls and hits the books for the honor of Christ, working towards a degree in Biblical Studies.
Murillo is one of just two players from the Golden State Athletic Conference to be chosen as an Academic All-District player in the NAIA District Four. The other is the flashy guard from San Diego Christian, Derek Dickerson.
Dickerson, Murillo and the other 21 NAIA Academic All-District honorees are now eligible to be voted a CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American. The voting process continues through Feb. 11 and the final Academic All-American teams are to be released Feb. 17.
