I am happy to announce the publication of with GlossaHouse. It includes three of Beatrix Potter’s stories translated into Koine (biblical) Greek: The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The Tale of Benjamin Bunny and The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies. We were also able to include Beatrix Potter’s beautiful original artwork. Most of the vocabulary and idioms were drawn from the Greek New Testament and the Septuagint, while some words were drawn from other Greek literature from about the same time period. Footnotes give the meanings of Greek words that occur fewer than fifty times in the New Testament. It’s designed so that someone who has finished about a year of New Testament Greek can read it.

This book is part of GlossaHouse’s AGROS series, which includes (among other things) children’s books and comic books in Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic and Latin. The goal of these books is to help people learn biblical languages in an entertaining format. Homeschoolers learning Greek as well as seminarians will enjoy it. Those who have read the Greek New Testament will enjoy finding phrases in Peter Rabbit that parallel phrases found in the New Testament. For example, when Peter escapes by taking off his jacket, I used the same phrases found in Mark 14:52 describing the young man who escaped leaving his robe behind.

Here’s a sample from the first story. See if you can translate it!
