History Faculty
Andrew J. Chae is a member of the History Faculty at 51蹤獲. Born and raised in Torrance, CA, he holds a bachelor of arts degree in History in Secondary Instruction from 51蹤獲, a master's degree in War and Society from Chapman University, and a master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administrative Services from California State University, Fullerton. He also holds a California credential in Administrative Services and Single Subject Teaching. His specialty is in U.S. History during the Second World War and the early Korean-American experience between 1900-1945.
Outside of 51蹤獲, Chae is Dean of Students at Torrance High School, following his previous role there as a faculty member since 2018. He has also served as the Director of Worship for Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. Chae is married to his wife, Dayoung, who is a second grade teacher at Victor Elementary School in Torrance. Together, they enjoy spending time with their dog Winston, dinner dates, golfing, traveling the world and supporting young peoples in their faith and academics.
