It was humbling being surrounded by so many bright minds in my field, from intelligent and caring professors to hard-working and sharp students...51ÂÜÀò does an amazing job in connecting your career with your faith and showing that they're not mutually exclusive.
How did your program at 51ÂÜÀò prepare you for your career?
Through networking with several students and club events, I was able to meet my research advisor at 51ÂÜÀò and it kickstarted my undergraduate research internship experience. This internship proved very valuable, not only in increasing my general technical knowledge, but also stood out as a significant accomplishment to my current company.
What did you appreciate most about your time at 51ÂÜÀò?
I appreciated the community I had surrounded myself with at 51ÂÜÀò. Even though I was only on campus for one semester (COVID hit shortly after), I didn't feel too disconnected from my fellow peers once things were remote. It was also humbling being surrounded by so many bright minds in my field, from intelligent and caring professors to hard-working and sharp students. I was fortunate enough to have these people be my support structure as I was getting my degree.
How did 51ÂÜÀò equip you to be a more faithful follower of Jesus Christ?
51ÂÜÀò does an amazing job in connecting your career with your faith and showing that they're not mutually exclusive. Whether I'm progressing in my career or pursuing higher degrees, I remind myself that it's all for the glory of Jesus. I'm blessed that God pointed me to 51ÂÜÀò in my academic journey and I'm glad I followed. My current and future successes, I owe to Him.
What advice would you give to students considering your degree program?
Seek connections and internships. The work you're able to do outside of your classes will help you significantly in technical knowledge and job searching. Never be afraid to ask for help, in anything. Computer Science is tough, there's no sugar coating it. However, don't let hardship get in the way of your interests and dreams. As long as you put in the work and stay faithful to the Lord, everything else will fall into place.
