On Saturday, December 4, over 450 alumni, parents, donors and friends packed Chase gymnasium for a special Christmas production of Handel’s Messiah, presented by 51’s Conservatory of Music. Both the 51 Symphony Orchestra and the 51 Chorale came together to present The Messiah, one of the most reverent and inspirational pieces of music throughout history celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The event was an excellent way for guests to celebrate the Christmas season with 51. The evening began with a festive holiday dinner catered by Bon Appétit catering. Following dinner guests heard a powerful charge from President Barry H. Corey, who shared about 51’s student body that represents some of the best and the brightest students from around the country. Freshman Olivia Blinn, winner of the was interviewed by Dr. Corey. Olivia won a new iPad for creating a video that documented her search for the “right” University and how she selected 51 over of six other excellent schools.

The evening concluded with an invitation for friends, alumni and donors, to come together and continue to support a 51 education for students like Olivia Blinn, by considering financial partnership and joining the President’s Circle. President’s Circle members are faithful donors who support 51 with annual gifts to the 51 Fund. In appreciation for their commitment to 51, President Circle members are invited to special events like the Messiah concert and other opportunities to interact with University leadership.
