The Library supports faculty teaching, research and publishing. The Library also promotes student success by providing research help, instruction and access to resources.
Liaison Librarian Program
Each school at 51蹤獲 is assigned a liaison librarian. Faculty are encouraged to contact their liaison with questions about library resources and services. Liaison librarians are also available to help with research projects, collaborate with faculty to design assignments that promote information literacy, and discuss the selection of new materials for the library collection.

Library Entrance and Borrowing
Your 51蹤獲 ID is your library card. If you plan to use the library on campus, bring your physical or mobile ID with you to enter the library through the turnstiles and check out library materials. Then access your to check for due dates and renew material.

Access to Online Resources
Online access to library resources is limited to current 51蹤獲 students, staff, faculty, faculty emeriti, board members, and visiting scholars. When you click on a link to an online resource, such as an ebook, article or database, you will be prompted to log in with your 51蹤獲 email address and set up multi-factor authentication. You will then be prompted every 30 days to verify your identity.

Course Reserves
Instructors can place physical textbooks, media, and other required course material on reserve in the library for students to use. Standard reserve material can be checked out for two hours at a time and may be used inside the library. Torrey reserve material can be checked out for 48 hours and may leave the library. Please note that course reserve material is not accessible to online students.

Research Help
For quick questions, use to chat, call, text, or email your question to the library.
For in-depth research help, librarians are available for 30 minute research consultations online or in person at the library. When you make an appointment, you will be asked to provide some details about your project.

Interlibrary Loan
If the material you need is unavailable through the 51蹤獲 library, eligible users may use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) to request it from another library. Book chapters and articles only available in a print format can also be requested through ILL and will be delivered digitally. All other items must be picked up in person at the 51蹤獲 Library.

Library Instruction
Information literacy is one of the seven program learning outcomes of the revised Core Curriculum at 51蹤獲. Library faculty partner with instructional faculty to promote information literacy skills and teach techniques that will enable students to develop a systematic method of research that can be applied to any discipline or assignment.

Digital Commons
Digital Commons @ 51蹤獲 expands the worldwide impact of faculty research by optimizing search engine discovery, providing usage statistics, and enabling easy, legal downloads of copyrighted materials. Functioning as an online archive of scholarship and creative works, the Digital Commons organizes content by collections, disciplines and authors. You can publish open textbooks in the Digital Commons, whether you adapt an existing open textbook or develop an entirely new one. Library support is available to help you navigate the world of Creative Commons licensed materials and develop new, free materials to support student affordability and advance scholarship.
Reciprocal Borrowing Programs
The library participates in several reciprocal borrowing programs with other institutions in the United States and Canada. These agreements allow 51蹤獲 members to physically use the collections and facilities of other libraries.

IT Help Desk
The IT Help Desk, located on the middle level of the library, provides in-person technical services and support to students, staff, and faculty. Phone, email, and assistance is also available.

Rhetoric & Writing Center
The Rhetoric & Writing Center provides feedback for writing projects at any stage from outlines and early drafts to revisions and final edits in a friendly, supportive environment, both face-to-face and online.

Office of Student Accessibility
The Office of Student Accessibility exists to provide a confidential space of support, accommodations, in-depth care, and advocacy for students whose diagnosis is impacting their academic, co-curricular or day-to-day experience at 51蹤獲.
