Torrey Oxford

A Torrey Education in England

The Torrey Oxford study abroad program is a unique chance for Torrey students to study for an entire semester at the University of Oxford in their junior or senior year. This highly competitive program allows a select group of Torrey Oxford students to experience life as official Registered Visiting Students at the University of Oxford — gaining credit for their Torrey Honors studies while living and learning at one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious universities.

Learn from Oxford Professors

Torrey Oxford students take the strong foundation in classical education they have gained through their Torrey Honors studies and build upon it in their Oxford courses. Students will sit under evangelical Christian professors at Wycliffe Hall for one-on-one intensive tutorials in philosophy, theology, and religion, growing in research and scholarship to prepare them for future studies and graduate school. They will have the opportunity to make valuable connections in the Oxford community and have access to Oxford campus amenities like the Bodleian Library, one of the oldest libraries in Europe.

Gain Torrey Credit Abroad

Torrey Oxford is the only study abroad opportunity in which Torrey Honors students will earn 13 honors course credits â€” nine credits gained through studies at Wycliffe Hall and four delivered by a Torrey faculty member in Oxford. At the end of their semester, Torrey Oxford students will receive a University of Oxford transcript for their Oxford courses, bolstering their academic portfolio.

Study in Storied Halls

Oxford has shaped some of history's greatest minds: Albert Einstein, J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis and many, many more. Through Torrey Oxford, students gain access to this iconic university’s community, grounds and libraries. Torrey Oxford students are enrolled at Wycliffe, Oxford's Evangelical Permanent Private Hall, where they are surrounded by a fellowship of international Christian scholars, living alongside each other and growing in community.

Be Transformed by Travel

In Torrey Oxford, travel is a teacher too. This semester abroad allows students to be immersed in the intellectual hub that is the city of Oxford and experience the culture, history and beauty of the United Kingdom through excursions to world-class museums, shows and historical sites.
