Overview

The B.S. in Healthcare Management offers a rich science and healthcare-focused curriculum that allows you to realize your passion for caring for others and improving patient care quality and healthcare access for all. This program is also the starting point for students pursuing a B.S. in Nursing (BSN) at 51蹤獲 and satisfies the lower-division coursework required to apply to the nursing major.

Whether you want to make a difference in acute care facilities, physician offices, skilled nursing facilities or public health organizations in the U.S., our program equips you with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in this rapidly growing field. All courses in this program are taught from a Christian worldview.

What will I study as a healthcare management major?

The first two years of the B.S. in Healthcare Management program are focused on the prerequisites that qualify you to apply to the clinical portion of the B.S. in Nursing degree. Admission to the clinical nursing program is competitive, requires a second application and is not guaranteed.

In your second two years as a healthcare management student, youll learn to integrate your Christian faith with professional healthcare management to embrace your calling to serve and minister to people in need.

Along with the core curriculum courses in behavioral science, mathematics and science, career-relevant topics include:

  • Principles of Management (a Crowell School of Business course)
  • Organizational Communication
  • Healthcare Leadership and Organizational Dynamics
  • Healthcare Law, Economics and Finance
  • A wide variety of electives like Human Resource Management, Global Health Leadership or Sociology of Disabilities

What can you do with a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management?

The B.S. in Healthcare Management meets the academic program content guidelines from both the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and the Association of University Programs in Healthcare Administration (AUPHA). Additionally, our program sets you up for success by providing the necessary foundation to pursue professional certifications from reputable organizations like the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or the Project Management Institute (PMI), contingent upon your eligibility and professional experience.

The healthcare management major is designed to prepare students to serve in entry-level leadership positions in a wide array of healthcare businesses and organizations, including:

  • Hospitals and health systems, clinics, medical group practices and long-term care
  • Local, state, and federal government agencies
  • Nonprofit organizations or foundations, social and community service agencies
  • Pharmaceutical companies, medical sales and insurance companies

Additionally, the B.S. in Healthcare Management degree is intentionally designed to include coursework required by accelerated second-degree nursing programs (e.g. accelerated BSN or Entry-level MSN programs).
